Questions people ask

  • Does it need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for. Your books live on your phone and in your own iCloud.
  • How do I share with my family?
Settings > Household > Invite someone. You send a link; they open it on their own iPhone with the app installed. It needs the paid plan and iCloud switched on for both of you. You can remove anyone from the same screen.
  • The scan did not find a book.
Try again closer, straight on and in good light; spines in strong shadow or very thin spines are hard to read. Any book the scan cannot place shows a Search button so you can find it by title. A barcode scan is the surest way for a single book.
  • A cover or description is wrong.
Book details come from Google Books and Open Library and are sometimes wrong. You can change a book's shelf and details in the app; a wrong cover can be reported to us and we will see what the databases have.
  • Where are my photos?
Nowhere. A shelf photo is read on your phone to find the spines and then dropped. It is never saved by the app or sent anywhere.
  • How do I cancel the subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the app keeps the paid features until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are Apple's: reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • How do I delete everything?
In the app: Settings > Privacy > Your data > Delete everything. That removes all books, members and shelves from your device and your iCloud. It cannot be undone. If you only want to leave someone else's household, that is on the Household screen.
  • I have found a security problem.
Thank you. Write to support@cy-sec.co.uk with "Security" in the subject line with what you found; we will reply within two working days and will not take action against good-faith research.
